Reauthorizing Microsoft 365 (M365) global administrator

This article describes the steps for reauthorizing Spanning Backup for M365.
M365 global administrator privileges are required to reauthorize Spanning Backup's access to M365.

IMPORTANT  To prepare for Microsoft's deprecation of the Exchange Web Services (EWS) API on October 1, 2026, Spanning Backup for Exchange services will be migrated to the Microsoft Graph Application Programming Interface (API) by June 30th, 2026.
To continue running Exchange backups, you must reauthorize your M365 accounts by May 30, 2026.

Use this method to reauthorize an account without accessing the Datto Partner Portal or SaaS Protection.

  1. Navigate to the M365 reauthorization URL.
  2. Log in to your M365 tenant as a global administrator.
  3. In the Permissions requested dialog, grant access to the Spanning application by clicking Accept.
  4. Spanning Backup is reauthorized.

Repeat this procedure as needed to reauthorize additional M365 tenants if you have other Spanning Backup M365 organizations.
