Kaseya Spring Release: Spanning Backup

This release includes features, enhancements, and fixes.

New feature

Unlimited Shared Mailbox protection— for free!

You can now protect as many shared mailboxes as you like, regardless of how many user licenses you've purchased. For details, see Protecting Shared Mailboxes

NOTE  Unlimited shared mailbox protection does not apply to Legacy Spanning Backup subscriptions. For Legacy subscriptions, the number of shared mailboxes you can protect is tied to the number of user licenses purchased (one shared mailbox for each standard user license).

Not sure if you have a Legacy Spanning Backup subscription? Simply check your Shared Mailboxes page in the Spanning UI:

• If you see Shared Mailboxes Assigned, Remaining, and Purchased, you have a Legacy subscription.
  

• If you see Shared Mailbox Pools, your subscription includes unlimited shared mailbox protection.
  

Enhancements

This release includes the following enhancements:

●   Export Mail to PST – PST files are downloaded in parts. We've increased the maximum file size of a part to 25 GB so you can merge parts more easily.

●   User management – To simplify user management, users that have never had a Microsoft license (and have never been protected by Spanning Backup) will no longer display in the Spanning Backup UI.

●   Applied security updates.

Bug fix

This release includes the following bug fix:

●   OneDrive backup – Fixed an issue where skipped items were excluding the item's entire folder from backup. With this fix, only individual items are excluded.

New feature

South Africa Data Center location

When adding Spanning Backup to new tenants, you can now opt to store your Microsoft 365 Spanning Backup data in South Africa.

Enhancement

OneDrive restore view

We've improved the design and usability of the OneDrive restore interface with new features and standard Kaseya styles. For details, see To restore or export OneDrive for Business data.

This release includes enhancements and fixes.

Enhancements

Restore views:

• In cases where there are no backups to restore from, you now see a descriptive message and a Back Up Now option (if applicable):
  

• Added the item's parent folder name to the Versions dialog:
  

• Contact and Calendar – You can now sort the list of items by Name.

• Email notifications – Notifications now include a View Details button you can click to view the restore or view/download the export in the Activity Log.
  

• Shared Drive export – When exporting multiple drives and at least one drive cannot be exported, you are now notified in the Confirm Export dialog that these drives will be skipped. For details, see Considerations for exporting shared drive data.
  

• End user restore – Restore and Export are now disabled if the operation was already initiated by an Administrator.

Error reporting – Improved error reporting by handling additional error conditions and providing new problem codes with meaningful descriptions on the Problems page.

Notifications for newly added domains – Notifications are now enabled by default for newly added domains. The email of the admin that added the domain is used as the default email address.

Unified behavior of auto-complete fields:

• For enhanced usability, we've standardized the behavior of the auto-complete fields throughout the UI. Now, whenever you click one of these fields a drop-down list of values displays and is dynamically filtered by the text you enter.
  

• In the Filter on the Users and Manage Licenses pages, Organizational Unit is now an auto-complete field.
  

Bug fixes

• Mail export – Fixed a "Cannot download" error seen by Legacy users.

• Drive backup – If a "Connection closed prematurely" error occurs, the backup is now rerun automatically.

Enhancements

This release includes maintenance fixes and enhancements:

• Restore – If fields cannot be restored due to Salesforce rules (e.g., the fields are non-creatable or non-updatable), Spanning now skips these fields rather than failing the restore. Skipped fields can be viewed in the Activity log:
  
  

• Applied security updates.

Enhancements

This release includes these enhancements:

• Report Export – Extended the export's timeout interval to accommodate larger reports.
  

• Backup – Improved error handling to prevent ongoing backup failures in cases where a "bad" API response was received. With this change, the failed backup is now deleted to prevent subsequent failures.
